My husband and I live in a duplex community just down the street from a great Aunt of mine that does not exist in reality. It is more or less our responsibility to 'monitor' her on a daily basis, as we are the closest relatives. One night, we are awakened by the sound of sirens and other noises that indicate an emergency. We rush outside and are able to see her house engulfed in flames. We are too late to help. She has perished in the fire. Her neighbors look at us with disappointment and disgust.
The dream shifts and we are now in our current home. Somehow we are babysitting for my husband's cousin's twin boys. They are around 7 years old and do not exist in reality. They are actually the twin actors from the movies "Cheaper by the Dozen" and "Cheaper by the Dozen 2." They are very wild and we are unable to get them to quiet down, so we choose to take them for ice cream. When we return to the house, my husband and I are suddenly 'in the mood.' The only problem is that we do not really have anything to do with the boys while we partake, but, we decide to put them in the living room in front of the television to keep them occupied. We retreat to our room with our ice cream.
Within minutes, my coworker M and her husband S burst into my house with anger that we are not paying proper attention to the boys, with whom M & S have no connection whatsoever. Regardless, they then take the boys from us.
Fire: Can symbolize destruction, passion, desire, illumination, transformation, enlightenment, or anger. It may suggest that something old is passing and something new is entering into your life. Your thoughts and views are changing. To dream that a house is on fire, indicates that you need to undergo some transformation.
Non-Existent Relative: You may be wishing for more love or friendship in your life.
Twins: Signifies ambivalence, dualities and opposites. It represents security in business, faithfulness, and contentment with life. It may also mean that you are either in harmony with or in conflict between ideas and decisions.
Ice Cream: Denotes pleasure and satisfaction with your life. You need to savor the moment and enjoy it. It is also indicative of good luck and success in love. Alternatively, the dream may suggest that you need to cool off and not let your temper get out of hand.
Coworker: Highlights aspects of your waking relationship with them, including difficulties/support. It signifies your ambition, struggles and competitive nature.
So I am either working through some serious conflict and transformation whilst wishing for a new friend and competing at work - OR - I am incredibly content with life, love, and have overall good luck and a supportive work environment. I certainly FEEL the latter in reality. Dreams are screwy. This one in particular has me confuzzled because in both scenarios, I am basically responsible for the well-being of someone who is incapable of taking care of themselves, and I literally 'fail' each time. I find that more telling than the actual symbols within the dream. Shwew.
