I am currently sitting in my living room floor writing this post.
The past couple of days have not been overly exciting. I slept for approximately 12 hours the night before last, therefore, yesterday pretty much didn't exist! I spent what little time I had awake cleaning the kitchen, doing some laundry, and addressing my cards to go out. Today has been slightly more productive. I went to the post office, to the grocery store to get birthday cake decorating materials, and to get my eyebrows waxed (had a coupon). I also had Taco Bell for lunch, which I am sure I will regret very soon.
Sometimes, though, a girl just deserves some calories.
Actually, last night was a pretty eventful evening. We had hamburgers for dinner, see, and, sometimes we pour the leftover grease from the pan onto Sid's dry dog food. The oil works to help his dry puppy skin (he has a lot of skin issues. We believe it's due to his breed). Well. We do this and he begins to literally inhale his food.....causing him to start choking! Normally he (and any dog) can "work out" the food and "save" himself, but this time was different. His eyes were actually running and he was gagging uncontrollably. I WAS A NERVOUS WRECK but Drew swept in and saved the day. He gave Sid the Heimlich maneuver and out popped the piece of food that was stuck in his throat. It made the most heartbreaking little noise, too. :(
Sid went back to being normal after that, but I was just a mess. Had I been alone when this happened, I do not know what I would have done. Drew says that I would have reacted well, but still. The thought sobers me. Getting all worked up like that over a dog really showed me that, if we ever plan to have children, it will be far far far far in the future. I'm not ready yet for that kind of responsibility and the scares it brings!
Speaking of Sid...he just crawled over to me and licked my toe. How special. He makes the days easier.
This weekend is Drew's birthday and actually today I realized it also marks the 6 month anniversary of our wedding day! How crazy! Time has really flown. Never would I have thought 6 months after graduating college and getting married, you could find me sitting on my living room floor, unemployed, with a 65 pound dog licking my feet. Sigh. How life surprises us. Anyway, we plan to play it really low-key. He just wants to hang out here at home and watch good movies and drink a little to feel festive. We may also venture out to the D to have dinner with his parents. I hope we go somewhere good. We eat out so little nowadays that I like to make the best of each time we do. Of course, going anywhere where I do not have to cook is fine enough with me!
I guess I'm going to go run some more loads of laundry (if I had a nickel for every time I say that...) and alternate between my book and episodes of Party of Five until Drew gets home. He also took tomorrow off from work in honor of his big day, so I cannot wait to get started on our alone time. I MUST write out my list of 28 reasons why I love him to include inside the new wallet I got him. I'm running out of time!! I also bought him his first husband birthday card today....the bugger was $6!! I didn't know until I got to the register. Sheesh!
But, it's true. Nothing beats being married. He is absolutely worth $6. ;)
