The Townhome Boom

My husband and I had just moved in to a new townhome community and were still unpacking and painting the walls...things of that nature. We had all the doors and windows open to air the place out. We knew none of our neighbors just yet. My husband goes to our street to take out a load of trash and notices a mysterious car idling by our drive. The car is filled with men who do not look like they quite 'belong' in this particular community. The car is very old and in horrible condition. My husband decides to tell the men that they need to move along. They do, staring menacingly all the way. My husband shrugs his shoulders and returns to me in the front doorway, from where I have watched the exchange. We decide then to head out for dinner and begin walking through the house, closing all the windows and doors. Our dog stays underfoot; he can tell we're about to leave and does not really care for the idea.

I take a moment to step out on our back deck while my husband finishes getting ready. From here I can see our fenced-in backyard, the street behind our home, and the neighbors across that street. I see two older women, a blond-haired woman around my age, and a small female child in the doorway of a garage just across the way. They wave and I wave back. I then realize the woman around my age is actually a friend from my childhood, AC. She has actually attempted to call me numerous times that day but I was too busy with moving in to answer. I motion for her to walk over to talk. She brings the other women and small girl to introduce me. They are all my new neighbors and I am delighted to learn AC will be living close to us.

As we stand there and talk, we are interrupted by a VERY loud boom. We literally jump at the burst of noise and start to look towards the sound. We're unable to see much, as the explosion occurred on the other side of the neighboring townhomes, but we are able to see a cloud of dark smoke against the clear blue sky just over the rooftops. The cloud quickly fills the entire sky. A child's bicycle and other debris begin to fall from the sky and people are coming out of their homes to investigate. It hits all of us at the same time: something huge has just happened. Someone may be hurt! Other people around us are frantically gathering their children and huddling into protective groups. I dash inside my house as my visitors quickly leave my yard and run back across the street to their own. My husband is already on his phone, apparently with a 911 dispatcher, trying to explain the mayhem unfolding around us. (I should note here that he is ridiculously calm compared to my near hysteria).

I notice then that I have left the sliding door leading to our deck wide open. I can see the gate to our fence is also open. Our dog takes this moment to scoot outside, into the yard, and out the gate. He begins to run towards the crowd that has now formed, without his collar and ID tags. I am frantic because I know that we have not met anyone yet and, consequently, these people will not know that he is ours. I start to run after him, all while my husband is screaming at me to come back and not go towards the potential danger.

I woke up this morning in a panic, assuming all of the above was real. I thought we were in trouble and that my precious baby puppy was missing. Once I realized it was all a dream I calmed down significantly, but the horror felt in this dream is still lingering in my mind even now. Yikes. Now for a brief analysis:

Explosion - To hear an explosion but not witness it means that something is about to be exposed or come into consciousness. An explosion generally signifies repressed anger that may come to the surface in a forceful or violent manner. Something is trying to get my attention.

I think that everything except for the explosion was pretty typical. Obviously we saw the strange men and can logically conclude that they may be responsible for the explosion. No other element of the dream was very symbolic; rather, everything was normal and basic.

Hm.
